Breakfast at the hotel. Sightseeing tour of Bukhara – an ancient city whose historic center is a UNESCO World Heritage Site. Visit the Lyabi-Hauz complex with its historic pond, the Kukeldash Madrasah, the Nadir Divanbegi Madrasah, and the monument to Khoja Nasreddin. Then, explore the spiritual heart of the city, the Poyi-Kalyan complex, which includes the Kalyan Minaret (the symbol of Bukhara), the Kalyan Mosque, and the Miri Arab Madrasah. See two madrasahs facing each other – the Ulugbek Madrasah (15th century) and the Abdulazizkhan Madrasah (17th century). Lunch at a local restaurant. The tour continues with a visit to the ancient Ark Citadel – the residence of the Bukhara emirs – the elegant Bolo-Hauz Mosque with its carved iwan, and the water tower offering a panoramic view of the city. Next, visit the mausoleum of Ismail Samani (9th–10th centuries) – a masterpiece of medieval architecture made of carved brick – and the Chashma-Ayub mausoleum, associated with the legend of the holy spring.
